The US Attorney General's office has hinted that more top-ranking FIFA officials could be arrested as they continue their investigation into allegations of corruption within the sport.

US attorney general Loretta Lynch has confirmed that further arrests are being considered but she has refused to comment on speculation that FIFA president Sepp Blatter could be forced to answer charges.

"The scope of our investigation is not limited, and we are following the evidence where it leads," she said.

Fourteen FIFA officials and sports marketing executives were indicted in the US on racketeering charges last May, while Swiss authorities have also seized substantial evidence as well as property and bank accounts.
