Kyle Coney has played his final game for the Tyrone footballers.

The Ardboe clubman made his debut for the Red Hand county in 2009, the same year he helped Tyrone win an All Ireland Minor title.

His final appearance for Tyrone came in the final round of their Allianz Football League campaign in October's win over Mayo, introduced as a substitute for Brian Kennedy.

He continues the trend of inter-county players retiring this week, following a quartet at Mayo, a trio at Kerry and Gareth Bradshaw with Galway.

Coney's qualities saw him snapped up by AFL side Sydney Swans, but his tenure in Australia would not last long.

He'd return home to captain the Tyrone U21s in 2011, helping them reach an Ulster final.

Coney won two senior Ulster titles (2009 & 2010) during his time on Mickey Harte's squad.
