Two more athletes in Tokyo are confirmed to have coronavirus bringing the total of Olympics-related cases to 80.

Dutch skateboader Candy Jacobs is the latest competitor to test positive inside the athletes' village and may have to pull out of the event.

21-year-old Chilean Taekwondo athlete Fernanda Aguirre is the first athlete to withdraw from Tokyo 2020 after testing positive.

"Fernanda is asymptomatic and in good health, but unfortunately will not be able to compete because the Japanese authorities impose a 10-day quarantine," Chile's Olympic Federation confirmed.

The 2019 Pan American Games bronze medal winner says she's "destroyed and very sad" to not be able to compete.

Yesterday organising committee chief Toshiro Muto said they'll be closely watching the numbers of COVID-19 cases in Tokyo.

“We can’t predict what will happen with the number of coronavirus cases. So we will continue discussions if there is a spike in cases,” said Muto.

“We have agreed that based on the coronavirus situation, we will convene five-party talks again. At this point, the coronavirus cases may rise or fall, so we will think about what we should do when the situation arises.”
