Every year, someone inevitably claims that 'today is the day Marty McFly and Doc Brown arrived in the future', as portrayed in Back to the Future II. That will only be true on October 21st, 2015. In the meantime, though, some committed fans have come up with a novel way to promote the Michael J. Fox Foundation (dedicated to researching and finding a cure for Parkinson's Disease).

Starting this morning, the Hill Valley Project will be retelling the events of the first film via the medium of Twitter, all while strictly following the timeline established in the films. Things kicked off this morning at 07:45 - which is just before the time when Marty McFly arrives at Doc Brown's house to kick off the film's story.

Marty won't be travelling back to 1955 until early tomorrow morning, but that's when things get a little complicated. The film's second timeline will start unfolding tomorrow, while the 1955 elements of the story will run through an entire week starting on November 5th (that's a Saturday in the 1985 film, but we'll have to make do with a Tuesday this year). Unfortunately, the sequels don't appear to be included in the project, which would have made for a particularly mind-bending Twitter timeline as the alternate realities pile on top of each other.
