The news was broken on Wednesday evening that Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce is to become England's new manager. It dominates the sports pages this morning as he looks set to take charge on a two-year deal.

Allardyce is expected to be paid £1million less per year than his predecessor Roy Hodgson. The Daily Mirror claim the former Limerick boss will be paid £2.5million each year, but the contract will include large performance-related bonuses.

The 61-year-old will become the 18th man to manage England on either a full-time or caretaker basis. He will become the first English-born permanent manager to replace another Englishman since Kevin Keegan replaced Glenn Hoddle in 2009.

Despite his impending confirmation, Allardyce will only be given the job after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger turned it down. The Telegraph claim that the Frenchman was The FA's first choice, but was unwilling to step away from Arsenal.

Former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes is waiting in the wings to replace Allardyce at Sunderland, according to The Sun. The Scottish manager has been out of work since leaving Real Sociedad last season.

Paul Pogba is set to become the most-expensive player of all time, as many outlets are reporting that Juventus have accepted a £100million bid from Jose Mourinho's side. One man that will benefit largely from the deal is Pogba's agent Mino Raiola.

The Guardian claim the Italian agent will pocket more than £18million from the deal.
