Tottenham will need to come from behind if they are to make it into the Europa League last-16.

Mauricio Pochettino's side lost 1-0 at KAA Gent in their knockout tie first-leg in Belgium.

Tottenham's starting team was a strong one on paper, five days on from the 2-0 Premier League loss to Liverpool.

Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Hugo Lloris were among those regular players to start.

Playmaker Christian Eriksen was on the bench and would come with 10 minutes to go as Tottenham chased the deficit.

Gent took the lead just before the hour mark as Jeremy Perbet found the net.

Danijel Milicevic pulled the ball back and it would eventually fall for Perbet and he finished past Lloris on 59 minutes.

After winning seven games in a row at the start of the year, Spurs have now managed just two in their last six.

The return leg will take place at Wembley on Thursday, February 23rd.
