Fernando Torres is returning to Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish striker has agreed a loan deal from AC Milan that sees him back in his home country until the end of next season.

The Italian club confirmed a permanent deal for Torres - following its own initial two-year loan deal from Chelsea - on Saturday.

However, they have allowed him to play for Atletico after Italy winger Alessio Cerci arrived from the Spanish side.

Former Liverpool star Torres was a boyhood fan of the Spanish champions, the club where he began his professional career before moving to Anfield in 2007, and expressed his delight at the move via Twitter this morning.
