Tune into Off The Ball tonight from 7pm for live build-up and updates from both games and the other matches in Europe tonight.
Bayer Leverkusen v Manchester United
Manchester United won the corresponding fixture 4 - 2 at Old Trafford in September and although they know a win or even a draw could be enough to secure progress to the knockout stages, the Reds have been underwhelming in Europe.
But United are currently top of Group A on eight points, one clear of Leverkusen. Shakhtar Donetsk are three points behind United and host bottom-placed Real Sociedad which makes a win all the more vital for United.
A defeat for Man United coupled with a Shakhtar win tonight would see David Moyes' side face a straight fight with Shakhtar on the final matchday at Old Trafford for a single knockout place.
The Reds travel to Leverkusen without key players. Robin Van Persie (groin) and Nemanja Vidic (concussion) have not recovered from injury, while Marouane Fellaini is serving a suspension after his red card against Sociedad three weeks ago.
Leverkusen who have picked up seven points from a possible nine in their last three Champions League group matches, are missing a key player in Sidney Sam. The Germany international has already scored seven Bundesliga goals and made five assists this season will be missed on the left of a counter-attacking 4-3-3.
But they can call upon last season's Bundesliga top scorer Stefan Kieβling who has already netted eight goals this season - although one of those should never have counted i.e the infamous ghost goal against Hoffenheim.
He adds an aerial presence as well as a goal threat. In the Bundesliga this season, he is ranked second among strikers when it comes to the number of headers he wins. Indeed four of his eight goals - including the phantom striker - came via his curly head.
Son Heung Min who has scored four Bundesliga goals is likely to play on the right wing with Lars Bender, captain Simon Rolfes and former full back Gonzalo Castro likely to staff the midfield.
Manchester City v Viktoria Plzen
Manuel Pellegrini made light work of the Czech side on Matchday 1, winning 3 - 0. With City already assured of progression to the next round, it will be interesting to see what type of side the Chilean manager puts out.
Joe Hart will definitely start but Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Stevan Jovetic remain on the sidelines.
Viktoria Plzen are currently second in the Czech Gambrinus Liga, five points behind Sparta Prague who are faring much better than their city neighbours.
But Plzen have struggled in the Champions League this season, losing every game and conceding 12 goals.
However, they only lost to Bayern Munich by a single goal last time out and in that game they lined out in a 4-2-3-1, conceding almost 65 per cent of possession and committed over 20 fouls.
