The man who portrayed Forrest Gump has topped the iTunes chart with his new typewriter simulator app.

Hanx Writer, which mimics an old-fashioned machine, is one of the most popular free downloads for tablets this week.

The Hollywood star is an avid collector of the typewriters and is said to use one on a daily basis.
