Former Olympic gold medalist Michael Carruth says he thought Andy Lee's time had gone before the Limerick boxer claimed a coveted world title on Saturday.
Speaking to Oisin Langan, Carruth praised Lee and put the victory over Matt Korobov into context.
"What he achieved, we didn't expect it. I'm putting my hands up, because I said I didn't expect it. To be honest, I thought his time had gone. He's had a couple of heavy defeats and I just thought he'd left it too late challenging for a world title. He proved me wrong and well done Andy because if it was to happen to any guy, you'd want it to happen to Andy Lee," said Carruth.
