Beaten All Ireland finalists Tipperary have eclipsed the champions Kilkenny in this year's All Star Awards.

Despite losing out to Kilkenny in the League final and in their All Ireland final replay, the Tipp squad have come away from tonight's awards ceremony with seven All Stars in comparison to six for Kilkenny.

Richie Power is one of the more high-profile Kilkenny players to miss out, while Limerick are the only other county to be recognised with two All Star Awards as Munster champions Cork failed to register.

There was double celebration for Cats midfielder Richie Hogan as he was also named as the Huler of the Year and Tipperary's Cathal Barrett was unveiled as the Young Hurler of the Year.
