Tipperary manager Liam Kearns has credited the experienced core of the team for helping to guide the county past Galway and into an unprecedented All-Ireland football semi-final place.

Tipp have enjoyed progress at underage level with many them progressing to the senior side but while Kearns has hailed their impact, he also cited the players who have been there all along when he spoke to Newstalk's Dave McIntyre after the game.

"There's been massive amount of great work in underage in Tipperary and we're benefiting from that. But these guys have carried Tipperary football during the bad days and they deserve everything they get out there," he said, picking out the likes of Brian Fox and Peter Acheson among others.

Kearns also told Dave that he expected a big performance against Galway.

"We came here expecting a big performance and we did give ourselves a serious chance of winning this match. We were quite happy to take the underdogs tag," he said.

"We felt it was time the players did the talking and they did the talking on the pitch."
