The controversy surrounding the price of match tickets for away fans at Emirates Stadium was still a talking point at the final whistle of yesterday's game between Manchester City and Arsenal, but not necessarily just with fans.

Referee’s assistant John Brooks was overheard by TV cameras at the end of the game telling Joleon Lescott - “They’ve paid sixty two quid to be here, go over and see them.”

Manchester City had sent back approximately 900 tickets for their game against Arsenal and fans groups cited the £62 price of the tickets as the major factor in large numbers declining to travel to London. The issue has sparked a wider debate about the price of match tickets at Premier League grounds, with the result that supporters groups from several different clubs have demanded action from the clubs to lower the prices of match tickets.

Manchester City fans who did attend yesterday’s game made their own protest in the ground, revealing a banner protesting the high price. The banner was reportedly removed by stewards and police.
