The All-Ireland hurling champions have received a hero’s welcome on their return home from victory at Croke Park.

Tipperary’s stars were cheered by thousands of fans at Semple Stadium in Thurles this evening.

The team brought the Liam McCarthy cup on stage after a victory lap through the county.

Speaking on Tipp FM broadcast of the event, captain Brendan Maher thanked the team’s supporters.

"We’re hugely honoured to stand before you as All-Ireland champions. This is one of the reasons why we do this," he said.

"Your support is so much appreciated by every one of us players … Liam McCarthy is back."

It's the Tipp senior hurlers' first All-Ireland title since 2010.
