Phil Thompson has dismissed Jose Mourinho’s claim that there is a “campaign” to portray Chelsea as divers.

The Blues manager said his side are being victimised after Cesc Fabregas was denied a penalty and booked for simulation following a challenge in the box by Southampton’s Matt Targett during yesterday’s 1-1 draw at St Mary’s.

Sky Sports pundit Thompson admitted the Fabregas decision was incorrect but told Newstalk's Breakfast that Mourinho was wrong to cry foul because Chelsea's players are "are all diving".

The former Liverpool player said: “No campaign whatsoever. It’s Jose deflecting criticism because they didn’t win the game. They (Chelsea's players) are all diving ... they’re all doing it.”

Thompson added: “You should judge every incident on its merits but there’s been so many diving incidents with the Chelsea players.”
