With the football returning next weekend, the Allianz Hurling League takes centre stage this weekend, and the 2013 has thrown up a number of exciting young talents…

Tony Kelly (Clare)

An All-Ireland and provincial U21 champion in 2012, Kelly has been one of the standout young star in the Allianz League this term.

The 20-year-old centre-forward has notched 1-11 in the first four games of Division 1A, particularly impressing in the win over Galway two weeks ago.

The vibrant Ballyea club man made his Championship debut in last year’s Championship, working his way into the starting XV and will be even more central to Clare’s chances in 2013.

Jason Forde (Tipperary)

A Tipperary minor captain as recently as two years ago, Forde has got his opportunity in the 2013 league.

Although it was a humbling defeat, the Silvermines club man scored 0-2 against Cork in the opening league match against Cork, showing promise.

Since then, the youngster has been converted into an impact sub, scoring in a 4-22 to 1-20 win over Galway two weeks ago.

Jonathan Glynn (Galway)

The 19-year-old centre-forward was an impact sub in the 2012 Championship, playing on the grandest stage of them all – the All Ireland final. He went on to score a goal in the replay at Croke Park.

He has since graduated to starting berth in 2013 League and the powerful youngster is likely to be a starter when the Championship season kicks in.

Christopher Joyce (Cork)

The 21-year-old centre-back has established himself in the starting XV recently after making his Championship debut last year.

A good passer, allied to his razor sharp defensive awareness, he is seen as the long term replacement for Eoin Cadogan and Sean Og O’hAilpin in the Cork defence.
