Derek McGrath has had his term as manager of the Waterford hurlers extended until 2019.

Although he still had one year left to run, McGrath's success in guiding the team to this year's All-Ireland semi-finals has convinced the Waterford county board to offer McGrath another three years in charge.

McGrath also started the year with victory in the Allianz National Hurling League.
