As soon as the rumour mill began to spin at warp speed yesterday, it became increasingly clear that David Moyes' position as Manchester United had become untenable.
That was confirmed this morning as Manchester United announced a parting of the ways and appointed Ryan Giggs in a temporary caretaker capacity.
But how has the football world reacted to the developments?
Wish David Moyes all the very best. He's a good man and a good manager, just not the right fit for Manchester United.

I'm not going to apply mainly based on the fact its too early and I have at least 15 years left playing. Ruling myself out early. #manujob

Still think Moyes is a good manager. Maybe too much too soon Fergie was always a tough act to follow. Surely Van Gaal is the logical choice?

I honestly feel sorry for David moyes

Evidently they didn't have the confidence in him in which case makes the timing absolutely right. Now the big question is who's next?

Ancelotti: "I believe that Moyes will have another team, another opportunity."

The nightmare scenario for Manchester United. Every possible successor to Moyes carries a very substantial degree of risk. #mufc

50% - David Moyes had the third best win rate (league games) of any Manchester United manager in history (P34 W17). Irrelevant.

If RVP suddenly recovers from injury I think David Moyes's head will explode ...

I understand David Moyes went to Carrington to shake hands with the players before leaving the club. #quality #integrity
