Laois and Westmeath both advanced to the Leinster Hurling quarter finals yesterday afternoon as they finished in the top two of the Leinster Hurling Qualifiers.

The two sides faced of yesterday with Laois winning by 1-20 to 1-17.

They go on to face Offaly in Portlaoise, with Westmeath entertaining Wexford in Mullingar in the quarter finals.

Carlow and Antrim played in the second of yesterdays games with the Leinster side being victorious.

Antrim are now relegated to the Christy Ring Cup, to end a horrible year for the team. The Ulster side were relegated to Division 2A in the League too.

Laois manager Cheddar Plunkett spoke after yesterday's win and questioned whether the GAA were doing enough to help sides improve.
