The Open Championship is coming back to Royal Portrush.

The Royal and Ancient Society which organises it has confirmed that the famous links course has been added to their rota of clubs that take turns to host the Open Championship.

The earliest that Portrush can be chosen to hold the tournament once again is in 2019 but that will depend on development work and infrastructure around the course.

The last time it was held at the venue was 1951.
