GOLF

Shane Lowry has won on the PGA Tour for the first time.

The Offaly man won the WGC Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio after a final round 66 gave him a -11 finish.

Lowry was 2 shots clear of Bubba Watson.

Graeme Mc Dowell ended tied for 17th on -1, while Padraig Harrinton was +14.

The win means Lowry has climbed into the top 20 of the World Rankings for the first time in his career.

HURLING

Kilkenny have reached their 14th All-Ireland hurling final in seventeen years.

Brian Cody's side defeated Waterford by six points in Croke Park.

1-21 to 0-18 was the final score as TJ Reid scored the game's only goal 

Elsewhere the minors will have to do it all again, as Galway and Kilkenny finished the curtain raiser drawing 2-20 to 0-26 respectively.
