A record set in the NBA by the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and the 1993-94 Houston Rockets was finally broken last night.

Both teams began their seasons with 15 straight wins, before losing their 16th game. Last night, after a previous 15 wins, the Golden State Warriors won their game 16 to enter the history books.

A 16-0 start has been the pinnacle for teams in the NBA at the start of the season. No team since the 2002-03 Dallas Mavericks had reached 14-0.

Steph Curry was last season's MVP in the NBA and he looks set to repeat that feat this year. The 27-year-old has averaged just under 33 points per game this season. He has only failed to hit the 20 point mark on one occasion this year.

Last night, Curry scored 24 points and led with nine assists as the reigning NBA Champions defeated the LA Lakers to make history. The game finished 111-77 as the Warriors reached the 16-0 mark.

Curry was so dominant last night, he almost made Jordan Clarkson fall over at one point during the game.

The Warriors' next game is against Phoenix Suns and with their forthcoming fixture list looking pretty favourable, the team may even reach the 20 game landmark.
