The impasse between the Galway hurling squad and management team does not look like being solved any time soon.

The Tribesmen reached last month's All Ireland Final before losing to Kilkenny. It was the second time since 2012, that Cunningham has brought the side to the September decider. Galway are still looking for their first Liam McCarthy win since 1988.

The players passed a vote on no confidence in Cunningham late last month. Despite the vote, Cunningham was ratified as Galway manager for another year 48 hours later.

The Galway County Board released a statement today and it looks like there will not be a solution in the near future.

"The Galway GAA Management Committee met last night to review the current impasse between the 2015 Senior Hurling Panel and the current Senior Hurling Management Team.

The Committee is cognisant of the views of both sides and wishes to ensure that Galway has a cohesive and harmonious Panel for 2016, based on the positive progress and achievements of the past year.

Accordingly the Committee has decided to seek an Independent Mediator, in order to resolve this impasse.

The Galway GAA Management Committee will do all in its power to bring this matter to a positive conclusion, as quickly as possible."
