Over the past two weeks Irish international football has undergone possibly its greatest attitude transformation in decades. The gloom and despair of the Trapattoni era has been replaced with a giddy optimism at the future under Martin and Roy. A 3-0 win over Latvia, distinguished more by the way Ireland played football than by the scoreline, has only served to drive up optimism. But once we step back from the excitement of this new, highly intriguing, managerial team, what can we learn from the early days of the new Ireland under O’Neill and Keane?
Pat Fenlon was in studio while Keith Andrews and Kevin Kilbane were on the line to discuss what Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane can learn about their team from Friday’s game and the upcoming trip to Poland, as well as taking a more critical look at the performance asking what we can learn about what we can expect in future.
Keane and O’Neill have also talked about a willingness to take a greater interest in Ireland’s national league than their predecessor and Pat Fenlon discussed the issues facing the league, as well as its potential if given the proper attention by the new managerial set up.
