Brazil were in action again tonight in their second World Cup group game against Mexico.

But what is the situation like off the pitch?

Sportswriter Tariq Panja joined us on the line from the city of Fortaleza where tonight's game was taking place and he gave us an idea of the situation in terms of protests.

"In terms of protests, they're smaller but they're still here," said Panja, who explained that it was dependent on the location and the presence of the international media.

"However, in some cases, the police reaction has been over the top and there were reports of live rounds being used in Rio, close to the Maracana stadium before the Argentina game and that's totally unacceptable," said Panja, adding that the situation is very complicated.
