Katie Taylor got off to the perfect start in her campaign to claim the first ever European Championship boxing medal. The Olympic, World and European champion started off her games against Bulgarian Denitsa Eliseeva, the last fighter to defeat Taylor.

The Bray native got off to a good start as the bulgarian native came out all guns blazimg but failed to connect with a lot of her punces where as Taylor was more clinical as she threw less punches but connected with far more. The second round continued in the same fashion and Taylor again showed her dominance by using her left to devestating effect, notching up points which seen her winning 20:18.
