It has emerged that Sunderland were fined for fielding an ineligible player in four Premier League matches.

The club which is in the bottom three this season played South Korean striker Ji Dong-won in three August matches and a game in October. He also appeared in the League Cup.

However, the 22-year-old who has since moved to German side Augsburg was ineligible as he had not received international clearance.
