They defeated Cork on a scoreline of 2-15 to 2-12.

There was also Championship action this afternoon as the Leinster Hurling and Connacht Football competitions kicked into gear.

In the hurling, Westmeath won 2-19 to 2-17 against Carlow, while there was a cracker in Ballycastle as Antrim beat Laois on a scoreline of 5-17 to 3-22.

The football is across the Atlantic this evening, as New York welcome Galway to Gaelic Park - that commences at 8 o'clock our time.
