A positive result against Wales could set Ireland on track for a successful Six Nations according to the injured Tommy Bowe.
Bowe's last game came in the World Cup quarter-final against Argentina. He injured knee ligaments in that game and has yet to return to action for Ulster this season. The winger was speaking to Newstalk Breakfast this morning ahead of Ireland's Six Nations opener against the Welsh. "If we can get off the a winning start, the way I look at the Six Nations is that it's all about momentum. We have Wales first up, which is an incredibly difficult game. If we get the win at the start, it will really get the wheels going."

The 31-year-old told Ivan Yates that he hopes to play for Ulster this year and hopefully push his way into Ireland's squad for the summer tour of South Africa. "I'm starting to get moving again. I'm out of my leg brace and starting to try and build up the strength back in my knee again."
Bowe's Ulster captain Rory Best was last week named Ireland's captain and the Monaghan native is sure Joe Schmidt made the right decision. "He takes the captaincy in his stride and I think it doesn't affect his performance. Going into what's going to be a tough championship, I think he is a super man to lead the team."
No team has won the Six Nations three times in a row and Bowe told Newstalk Breakfast that he thinks Ireland are in a strong position to break that record. "We have a great squad. There is a couple of new young players that have been added into it. There are a couple of young guys who just missed out that will feature at some stage in the competition."
Ireland's first game of the championship takes place on February 7th at home to Wales.
