The SSE Airtricity League season is now two weeks old and the second round of matches had a few eye-catching results.

The biggest shock saw Sligo Rovers losing away to Bray Wanderers.

Stuart Byrne and Derry City manager Roddy Collins joined us to review the weekend's games and gave their take on the Bit o' Red.

"They looked like they didn't show up," said Stuey of Sligo. "I think that's the Sligo you're going to see this year. I don't see them challenging at this stage. Squad-wise they have been deteriorating for a couple of years. There were doubts last year as to whether Ian Baraclough would be around this year. He is around this year but I think that may have taken its toll and a couple of players have left."

Roddy also spoke about his team's 1 - 0 defeat at home to Cork City, a game Stuey described as "poor".

"It was a horror show as they said in the paper up here today," admitted Roddy. "We felt that we could get at them early. But the pitch was horrendous and was deflating for both sets of teams."

Roddy explained that the Council own the pitch and that the weather had also played its part, leaving both teams unable to play their natural game.

Roddy and Stuey then emphasized why the league and TV should "do more homework" about pitches and the kick off times.

The lads also celebrated the goalscoring return of Drogheda United's Gary O'Neill who has battled back from cancer.

"It's incredible. I was speaking to him a couple of weeks back," said Stuey. "He's still under high scrutiny and constantly monitored by doctors. By all means the football has been a wonderful distraction for him."
