Stuart Byrne feels summer football is not the positive for the League of Ireland that some may think it is.
The ex-Shelbourne and Longford Town midfielder was on Off The Ball to talk about attendances during the FAI Cup weekend and the big stories around the league.
"I really do have to question it. I don't know whether there's a future for it. Yeah, the pitches are better, the weather is a little bit more consistent - but only a little bit more," he said, also discussing the issue of football fans almost switching off from the sport once the Premier League season ends on the other side of the Irish Sea.
"I don't know whether the future of the game in this country is a summer season."
Stuey has also been impressed by Bohemians' Ayman Ben Mohamed who has been called up by the Tunisia national team.
"I saw him play in the league game a couple of weeks back against Dundalk. They were beaten 2-0 in the game but he really stood out and he's been standing out all season. He's very skillful, he's really direct, he's got really good feet, he's got pace, he's actually deceptively quick and he's really good in the air."
Stuey also backed Shamrock Rovers' Mikey Drennan for his bravery in announcing that he is taking a break from football to deal with depression.
