Ireland left-back Stephen Ward appears to be on the verge of a return to the Premier League as Burnley close in on his signature.

The 28-year had been expected to move to Brighton but his current club Wolves have accepted a bid from Burnley.

Ward previously played in the Premier League from 2009 to 2012 for Mick McCarthy's Wolves.

The Ireland international has made over 200 appearances since he joined Wolves from Bohemians in 2007.

However he spent last season on loan at fellow Championship side Brighton after Wolves were relegated to League One.
