Stephen Rochford has continued his preparations for the new season by appointing former Mayo goalkeeper Peter Burke to his backroom staff.

Burke, who made 60 appearances for the county during his career, will replace Sean Carey as a selector as Rochford aims to push his side all the way in search of an elusive Al-Ireland title.

He was already part of the coaching staff as a goalkeeping coach, working with All-Star David Clarke and Rob Hennelly.

Tony McEntee and Donie Buckley will remain on as the other two selectors with the county ahead of their league campaign.

The 41-year-old has been part of the Mayo set-up for six years and has played in two All-Ireland finals.
