Just making the squad for Euro 2016 alone is not enough for Ireland midfielder Stephen Quinn.

The 12-cap Reading player wants to settle for far more than that as he underlined at today's press conference ahead of Friday's friendly international against the Netherlands.

Quinn is part of the extended squad but will be hoping that Martin O'Neill gives him a place on the plane to France - and that's just for starters.

"There's a focus atmosphere [in the squad] because we're not long off the tournament. There's lads vying for places in that 90% or whatever for starting places and then there's lads starting at 10% who want to make the squad - and not only make the squad," he said.

"If me and Harry [Arter] make the squad, we would like to play in games. We're not going over there to make the numbers up. I want to actually play in the tournament. I don't want to just try and hang off the wing of the plane in the squad. I want to play in these tournaments. So everyone's focused and getting ready for it. We're all getting our minds and our bodies right for the first game [against Sweden]."
