Steph Curry is quickly putting himself into the conversation of one of the NBA's greatest ever players.

The Golden State Warriors star scored 51 points last night as his side defeated the Washington Wizards by 13-points to move to an outstanding 45-4 record for the season.

Curry, at one point on Wednesday night looked well on course to make history and score the most three-pointers by a player in a single match in NBA history. He scored seven points from outside the arc in the first quarter, leaving him needing only five to match in the record of Kobe Bryant and Donyell Marshall.

In the end, Curry matched his own record of 11 three-pointers in a game falling just one short. He now holds two of the top-nine places on the NBA record list.

Curry's Warriors remain on course to best the Chicago Bulls' 1995-96 record of having the best season in NBA history. That team finished with a 72-10 record. The Warriors return to action on Sunday at home to Golden State Warriors.
