53 years of hurt are over for St Patrick's Athletic.

They have won the FAI Cup for the first time since 1961, beating Derry City by two goals to nil at the Aviva - both goals courtesy of Christy Fagan.

After a scoreless first half, Fagan turned the ball home six minutes into the second half.

It made for a tense remainder as Derry tried for an equaliser, including a free for Derry outside the box in the 89th minute. However the second goal only arrived in the final minute of extra time.

In one movement, Fagan knocked a breaking ball past a defender and the goalkeeper and tapped into an empty net - guaranteeing a definitive victory and an FAI Cup for St Pat's.

Earlier today, Raheny United won their third FAI Women's Cup in a row.

An extra time winner from Siobhán Killeen gave the Pandas a 2-1 victory over UCD Waves after the sides finished level at 1-1 at 90 minutes.
