Pat Nevin believes many of Liverpool's current issues will evaporate once Daniel Sturridge returns to the side.
The former Everton and Chelsea midfielder joined us as always on a Monday and he thinks the striker's return from injury will help things for a club struggling to reach the heights of last season.
"I think a lot of the problems will go away when Sturridge comes back, purely because the options begin to open up again. You get more out of Sterling who will get a lot more freedom because Sturridge runs beyond a little bit more than Balotelli does," he said.
Pat also believes that Steven Gerrard should play further forward than the quarter-back role if manager Brendan Rodgers sticks to a 4-1-4-1, given the captain's frailties in that position.
"You certainly can't play him as the one in a 4-1-4-1," said Pat.
Although Pat believes Arsenal learned a lot from last season's defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, he criticised the midfied's lack of pressing for the Blues' second goal by Diego Costa.
He also gave his take on whether footballer's dislike repetition in training based on an anecdote from Roy Keane's upcoming book which saw the Ireland assistant manager asking former Man United assistant Carlos Quieroz a very pointed question.
