The Airtricity League Premier Division title could find a new home this evening, with its most recent custodians the only side capable of prolonging this year’s title race.

Sligo Rovers travel to Richmond Park and should they lose to St. Patrick’s Athletic then the Saints will be crowned league champions in front of last year’s title winners. Even a draw will effectively be enough for Pat’s, considering the 17 goal  goal-difference advantage they hold over Dundalk.

Pat’s are now 5 points clear following Dundalk drawing 1-1 with Bohemians at Dalymount Park last night. The point all but secures Bohs’ Premier Division status while also leaving Dundalk hanging on to the very thinnest of threads of hope of beating St. Pat’s to the title.

Dundalk went ahead through a Dane Massey header on 18 minutes. The lead should have been doubled with 15 minutes left but Stephen O’Donnell missed a penalty when he chipped the ball down the middle and over the bar.
Bohs tied the game up when Neil Yadohali scored a header from an injury time corner.

The point for Bohs means that should Bray fail to win at home to Limerick this afternoon then the Dalymount side will be safe from relegation.

Bray go into the game level on points with Shelbourne at the foot of the table. Shels have a slightly better goal difference but Bray have a game in hand. Both sides face Limerick in their next games, with Shels travelling to Thomond Park on Wednesday night.

Elsewhere in the league last night, Shamrock Rovers and Derry City played out a 0-0 draw, while Drogheda and UCD finished 1-1.

Fixtures:

Bray V Limerick 3.00
St. Patrick’s Atheltic V Sligo Rovers 5.15
