Former Croatian manager Slaven Bilic has been announced as the new manager of West Ham United. Bilic has signed a three year contract with the club.

The Croatian left Besiktas last month after guiding the club to third place in the Turkish League. He played for West Ham and Everton in the Premiership in the 1990's, making almost 50 appearances for the club.

He replaces Sam Allardyce at Upton Park, and will manage the club in their historic final season at the Boleyn Ground before moving to the Olympic Stadium next summer.

After Allardyce left, the club sounded out many other managers about taking the job including Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez, Unai Emery and Marcelo Bielsa.
