GAA managers and selectors could be handed sideline bans from next season.

The GAA's Central Council has approved a rule change that will allow the Central Competitions Control Committee to punish a team official for making derogatory comments in relation to a referee before or after a game.

Meanwhile, Central Council has also outlined plans to stamp out on the practice of "dummy teams" being published ahead of match day.

A motion will go before next February's Congress that will require intercounty managers to register a 26-strong playing panel on the Thursday before a game from which they will have to select their team.

The only exceptions will be in relation to a change of goalkeeper or sub-goalkeeper.

The penalty for including an unregistered player, or for changing from the team submitted to the match referee in the 20 minutes before throw-in, will be a walk-over defeat.
