Reds Independent, a Shelbourne supporters group, have called for a boycott of the League of Ireland First Division side.

In a statement released on their website on Wednesday night, the group admitted the boycott came off the back of the team's impending move to Dalymount Park.

The club announced in September that they were to move to a redeveloped Dalymount Park, to ground-share with Bohemians much to the annoyance of many fans for the Drumcondra-based side.

Reds Independent released the statement, to mark 50-days since the club announced the move. The group claim that Shelbourne chairman Joe Casey did not consult fans about the move, and has since not spoken to fans since the move was confirmed.

As a result of the silence from the club, the group, which also runs the Red Inc. fanzine have called for the boycott.

"As Shelbourne FC is currently a privately owned entity with no obligation nor accountability to its’ supporters, we find that we can no longer continue to fund the club in any way while the current board hold its’ supporters in such disregard.

"It is with deep regret that we hereby find ourselves with no other option but to ask all Shelbourne supporters not to fund the club in any way while the status quo exists. We ask supporters not to pay into home league matches nor any cup matches that the club are entitled to a percentage of gate receipts from. We also ask supporters not to buy any product that will fund the club nor to fund the club through any form of sponsorship."

Last season, Shelbourne finished in sixth place in the First Division, 45-points behind champions Limerick.
