For the first time since 2011, Maria Sharapova is into the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

The fourth seed beat American Coco Vandeweghe, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, suffering a setback in the second set, before bouncing back in the deciding portion of the match.

Sharapova will next face either Victoria Azarenka or five-time champion Serena Williams, who she has not beaten in 11 years.

The Russian was pleased to be back in the last-four.

"It's been a while since I've been at that stage so I'm really with every match that I've competed at here and been able to win some in two sets, and today in three. I'm just through so that gives me a lot of confidence," she said.
