Shane Lowry has been named in Darren Clarke's European team for the EurAsia Cup in January.

The Offaly native is one of ten automatic qualifiers for the event in Malaysia, with Darren Clarke to name two wildcard picks next month. Jeev Milka Singh captains the Asia team but has yet to reveal his side. 

Lowry is the only Irish player in the team so far. He is joined by five Englishmen in Danny Willett, Andy Sullivan, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Ross Fisher and Chris Wood. Sweden's Kristoffer Broberg, Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen , Frenchman Victor Dubuisson and Austria's Bernd Weisberger complete the team currently.

This year's event, which will take place between January 15th-17th, is only the second iteration. The inaugural event in 2014 was shared between the teams after the matches finished 10-10. Dubuisson is the only player in the European side to have featured in both years.

Lowry spoke to Nick Dye about the team event, which will be the Offaly native's first as a professional.
