Shane Long's cradling of Seamus Coleman was one of the most poignant moments of the Republic of Ireland's 0-0 draw with Wales on Friday night.

The Southampton striker was one of the first respondents of the Everton star on the pitch, and immediately wrapped his arms around his captain, trying to keep the Donegal native calm.

While Long was rightly applauded for how he coped with the horrific scenario on front of his eyes, his wife Kayleah has revealed that the striker used a method he learned while she was pregnant with their first child over seven years ago.

"Shane told me he had thought of the time I gave birth to Teigan", she told the Sunday Independent. "I had a hypnotherapy birth and they taught Shane to help me to breathe through it".

"He told me: 'It all came back to me. I was just talking to Seamus, teaching him how to breathe through it.' He remembered it all.

"I asked if Seamus was listening to him and he said, 'Yes, to be fair, he was. He was really breathing well."

On Sunday morning Martin O'Neill confirmed that Coleman's surgery had been "a success", but no time frame is yet known about Coleman's return to action.
