Shane Long might have missed a presentable header in the 2 - 1 defeat to Liverpool yesterday, but the new Southampton forward was in very positive mood when he spoke to Off The Ball's Nathan Murphy.

The match saw the Ireland striker playing on the wings and Long confirmed that manager Ronald Koeman sees him playing in one of the three forward positions and the one behind the striker, although Kevin Kilbane told Off The Ball that the 27-year-old is wasted outside of a central striker role.

Long explained how he is taking to his new position and also revealed that the Southampton move came "out of the blue".
