Shamrock Rovers have come up with the quirky idea of providing all TDs and Senators with free tickets for their forthcoming game against Galway United.

All 218 members of the Oireachtas will be given two tickets for the game should they wish to go. The Tallaght-based club have also announced that the invitation has also been given to President Michael D. Higgins.

The idea comes off the back of Fine Gael Senators Michelle Mulherin and Catherine Noone complaining with the GAA, as they did not qualify to get tickets for the All-Ireland Final due to the fact they were not TDs.

Both Senators are from Mayo with Ms. Noone currently based in Dublin. The duo ran in the recent General Election but were not elected.

Shamrock Rovers are currently in fourth place in the Premier Division and drew 1-1 with leaders Dundalk on Tuesday night. Galway United are in seventh, and are coming off the back of a win. They defeated Bohemians 2-0 on Friday night at home.
