At the 74th time of asking, Sergio Garcia became a major champion, after winning The Masters.

Garcia joined his heroes Seve Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olazabal in becoming Masters champions. The Spanish duo both won the green jacket on two occasions.

Ballesteros would have turned 60 on Sunday if he were still alive. The shadow of Spain's greatest golfer followed Garcia through the final round.

"It definitely popped in my mind a few times", Garcia admitted, when asked about Ballesteros' birthday. "There's no doubt about it. Obviously today a couple of times here and there. And I'm sure he helped a little bit with some of those shots or some of those putts."

Every Masters winner gets a locker in the Champions Locker Room, but due to a lack of space, many new winners have to share theirs with a former champion. Last year's winner Danny Willett shares his with Ian Woosnam.

Garcia revealed after the win that he hoped to be paired with two-time winner Olazabal, after the former Ryder Cup captain sent him a good luck note before the tournament.

"Him and Seve are both my golfing idols since I was very, very little. You know, what he said, he mentioned, you know, just you know what you have to do, just believe in yourself.

"Obviously he did mention a couple of things that did kind of touched my heart a little bit. He said, 'I'm not sharing my locker at the moment, and I hope that I get to do it with you.' So if you guys wouldn't mind putting me with Jose, it would be great.

"He's a great man and we've had a great relationship for many, many years. To be able to join him and Seve as Masters champions from Spain, it's unbelievable."
