A second horse trainer from Newmarket has admitted giving horses steroids. Gerard Butler admitted administering the substances to several of his animals but insisted he had been told by a veterinarian they were legal substances. Butler said he believes over 100 horses at the stables would have been given the drug.
Last Thursday Mahmood Al Zarooni, a Godolphin trainer, was handed an 8 year ban from the sport for doping horses.
Butler told the BBC: "Over the last few days I have been very uneasy about the Al Zarooni case and felt that I needed to let the general public know what has happened in my yard," he said.
"Now I would like only to concentrate on helping the BHA with their investigation."
