The Scottish Rugby Union have announced the signing of Vern Cotter, the New Zealand born head coach of Clermont Auvergne, on a two year deal.
The announcement comes as a major boost to the SRU, with Cotter one of rugby’s most sought after coaches following a year in which he led Clermont to a Heineken Cup final this year, and the French Top 14 title last year.
As it stands Cotter will continue as Clermont coach for one more season, before taking charge at Murrayfield in June 2014. Scotland’s interim coach Scott Johnson will remain in charge until Cotter’s arrival.
