Tommy O'Donnell was carted off the field last night in what was a routine victory against Wales at the Millenium Stadium.

Ireland won the game comfortably 35-21 but they may have lost O'Donnell for the World Cup with what looked like a particularly bad injury.

There has been no update as of yet on the injury as Irish eagerly fans await the news that will influence their entire campaign.

“Tommy’s gone to the hospital to get a scan,” Schmidt said last night,

“At the moment, we know he’s hurt his hip but we don’t know what the injury is and we’ll know more about that in the next 24-48 hours.'

Schmidt also commented on O'Donnell's turnover and tackle count and how impressed he had been but did mention that the 28-year-old had fatigued as the game grew into it's latter stages.
